Candy shops are a dime a dozen when you’re traveling to small towns, but something about the Wythe Candy & Gourmet Shop in Williamsburg, Virginia caught my eye…
Let’s not kid ourselves, it was definitely the spooky Halloween-themed treats in the front window. Pictured here are Milk Chocolate Almond Witches Fingers and Fudge Love Eyeball Truffles, next to the intricately decorated Day of the Dead Truffles. As soon as I saw these, I was drawn into the rest of the shop. How creative!
I’ve never been a fan of Giant Jawbreakers, or any kind of hard candy for that matter, but I loved the old-fashioned look of these on the checkout counter. Sometimes you have to take a step back and appreciate the classics.
What did excite me were the Vegan Soft Candies from Germany! I’m not a strict vegetarian but I always feel a little guilty when I indulge in marshmallows and gummies that I know contain gelatin. Hardcore vegans, rejoice! You will find your fix at Wythe.
Quick shoutout to some of the stranger items we encountered in the gourmet side of the shop… Buffalo Wing Soda and The Original Jersey Italian Gravy. I’m from the part of Jersey that calls it sauce, but that’s an argument for another day.
All in all, this is a great little shop to stop in on your afternoon walk through Williamsburg, Virginia, and you won’t be disappointed by the free fudge samples.
While you’re in Williamsburg, be sure to check out The Cheese Shop.
